Balayage is a freehand technique where the colour is painted onto the hair in soft sweeps rather than wrapped in foil from root to tip. The result is a sun-kissed look with depth and movement – and a soft regrowth that grows out gracefully, without hard lines.

At Lumé by Trine, every balayage begins with a conversation about your hair: where it is now, previous colours and the look you are after. Trine then adapts the technique and the shades to you – from warm honey and caramel tones to cool, ashy lightening. If you would like to look after your hair a little extra, you can add a Metal-DX treatment alongside the colour.

The salon is on Falkoner Allé in Frederiksberg, in the middle of Copenhagen, and plenty of time is set aside for every guest, so the result is done properly – including when you style it yourself at home.

What does balayage cost in Copenhagen?

At Lumé by Trine, balayage costs DKK 2,199 without a cut and DKK 2,898 with a cut. Refreshing an existing balayage costs DKK 1,589 – or DKK 2,288 with a cut. If your hair is extra long or thick, a surcharge of DKK 399 may apply.

How long does a balayage last?

Because the transitions are soft and painted by hand, balayage grows out very gracefully. Many people simply have it refreshed roughly every three to four months – often combined with a toner that revives the shade between treatments.

What is the difference between balayage and highlights?

Highlights and babylights are placed in foil in a more uniform pattern from the scalp, while balayage is painted freehand with the focus on lighter ends and a natural, sun-kissed look. If you are unsure which will suit you best, Trine will help you choose at a colour consultation.

Is balayage gentle on the hair?

Balayage usually lightens only selected sections of the hair, and at Lumé by Trine you can add a Metal-DX treatment alongside the colour, which helps protect the strength and shine of your hair. We always assess the condition of your hair before we lighten it.

Should I book a consultation before my balayage?

For balayage we recommend a colour consultation (DKK 259), especially if your hair is already coloured or you would like a big change. That way we can assess your hair, agree on the shades and make a plan before you book the treatment itself.
